It is ideal for a light horse that does not require a lot of leverage for control or a young horse transitioning that needs more stability than a snaffle or gag bit. The slight gag gives the forgiveness needed for a rider’s hands so that the cues for the horse to slow down and rate and come through the backside of the turn are delivered to the horse in a timely yet perfected manner.
